The Role

PTD is seeking a confident, efficient person to fill this machinist role in our milling department.

The focus of this job is on producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. Job knowledge and competency is built through structured step by-step training and positive, supportive coaching from management and peers. Consistent, error free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success.

The pace for this position will be unassuming and often faster than meets the eye. Each day is different from the next and will often require switching between tasks based on the priorities within the department. Attention to detail is a major focus of the job. As a time factor the work must be done on time, as well as correctly. This is a position where established guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed closely. The successful candidate will be a valued member of our team who performs an important role within the milling department, reporting directly to the production manager.

Essential Duties:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in setting up machines independently and following written work instructions
  • Make quality parts that meet or exceed customer drawings and internal operation sheet requirements
  • Demonstrate the ability to read and understand customer drawings, and use proper inspection methods to check work using hard gages/plate checks
  • Follow company procedures and complete all documentation accurately associated with job travelers and SPC charts
  • Run multiple machines when cycle time reasonably permits while maintaining a high level of quality

Your Qualifications:

  • Proficient in use of CNC Milling machines, (3 & 4 axis) using rotary tables for positional and true 4 axis machining. Ideally experienced with running Okuma controls, but not required
  • Familiar with inspection tools, machinery, and manufacturing procedures
  • Detail orientated, knowledge of GD&T, machining, computers, quality, safety and team/independent working
  • Must be dependable, able to work independently with minimal supervision and possess strong work ethics to accomplish tasks accurately and in a timely manner
